Newly formed music group Mondo Music will release a vinyl version of the complete The Last of Us soundtrack Wednesday, July 22, 2015. The four-disc set will become available via Mondo’s store for $75 at an undisclosed time.
A faithful recreation of original composer Gustavo Santaolalla’s award-winning score, the Last of Us 4XLP includes every song from the vanilla game and the Left Behind DLC. The entire set comes on pressed 180g black vinyl and is done up in artwork by Olly Moss and Jay Shaw.
Interestingly, the insert cover depicting a particularly fluorescent clicker was first shown off at San-Diego Comic Con 2014. Evidently, Moss and Shaw’s work caught Mondo’s attention, as the group hired the pair to create both the collection’s striking cover art and the colorful inserts for each disc. Mondo’s foray into video game music comes on the heels of the vinyl release of the soundtracks to Battletoads and Street Fighter 2, which themselves follow Journey’s jump to the turntable. Evidently, there's either a surprisingly large or understandably avid market for vinyl out there.
