There has been a recent inundation of HD remakes, from Super Mario 64 to the original BioShock. What about the reverse — has anyone grabbed a graphically heavy game and turned it into 16-bit or even 8-bit? Yes, the answer is yes.
Vimeo user John Meehan took the PlayStation exclusive game The Last of Us and turned it into an 8-bit creation! Of course, Meehan didn't remake the entire game. The 8-bit remake limits itself to the emotional opening scene.
Meehan repurposed backgrounds from Double Dragon and the end scenes from Street Fighter 2 to get the scene going, but it works. Check it out below!
