The Last of Us Part 2 gets new trailer and February 2020 release

Ever since rolling credits on it 6 years ago, PlayStation fans have been clamoring for a sequel to The Last of Us. In 2016, Naughty Dog confirmed the sequel but since then, the studio has remained very tight-lipped on the game. Outside of a vague trailer, one cutscene, and a gameplay demo, we really know next to nothing about the game.

In tandem with its press event going on right now, Sony revealed a proper trailer for The Last of Us Part 2 with the release date for the PS4 exclusive. After over half a decade of waiting, fans will be able to pick up The Last of Us Part 2 on February 21st, 2020.

The sequel follows Ellie years after the events of the game, haunted by trauma and on a quest for revenge against a group that has wronged her. Filled with rage, she ventures out into the infected world alone… only to be joined by an elderly and weary Joel.

If you’re looking to pre-order the game, you can either get the standard edition or one of several special editions. The game’s $79.99 special edition comes with a steelbook and art book. If you have a bit more money to throw around, you can buy The Last of Us 2’s collector’s edition for $159.99 which features a 12-inch tall statue of Ellie amongst other goodies.

If you’re a superfan, you can spend $249.99 on all of the previously mentioned items, a vinyl soundtrack, and a real version of Ellie’s backpack.

Journalists have been playing the game today and will be allowed to post their impressions of Naughty Dog’s highly-anticipated game this Thursday. So if the new trailer and date weren’t enough to get you excited, there’s still more to come!

The Last of Us Part 2 will release exclusively on PS4 on February 21st, 2020. Retailers have reportedly marked the game down as shipping with two-discs, meaning it could rival the size of Red Dead Redemption 2 at over 100 GBs.
