As the news slowly drips out of the mystery that is The Last of Us, we are getting a better understanding of what to expect out of this PS3 only post-apocalyptic survival game. The latest news tidbit is a heads up that there will be some sort of multiplayer in the game. What will you do in this mode is still a complete enigma, but it’s good to know that it will exist.
From a NeoGAF post quoting Game Informer speculation:
With all of these human factions scavenging through the cities, it's not that hard to imagine what online multiplayer could look like in The Last of Us. Though Naughty Dog isn't prepared to discuss specifics, game director Bruce Straley at least admits it exists. "We're going to have some sort of online component," he says. "we're working on a bunch of ideas, but we haven't nailed anything down. We definitely know it's going to be awesome."
It doesn’t surprise me that the game’s director says that the multiplayer will be ‘awesome.’ The fact that Naughty Dog is playing with various ideas is promising. Maybe this will turn into multiple modes for the multiplayer. We can hope so. Since The Last of Us isn’t coming out until later this year, the team still has time to ‘nail it down,’ as they say. Get a hammering and let us know!
