Nihon Falcom has announced that gamers outside of Japan will finally be able to enjoy The Legend Of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel IV come this fall. The fourth entry into the popular action-JRPG series will launch first on the PlayStation 4 this fall season, before getting a PC and Nintendo Switch port in 2021.
The announcement comes via an exclusive coverage via Game Informer, where you can also watch the game in action in a new trailer. The Legend Of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel IV originally came out in Japan two years ago but keeping in mind that The Legend Of Heroes franchise regularly features an insanely large amount of written text in it, the rather long localization period starts making more sense.
“This title holds an important place as the end of the Cold Steel series and the mid-point of an overall story that began with Trails in the Sky. We’ve hinted at various mysteries since Trails in the Sky and all of those related to the Erebonian Empire will be revealed here. – Nihon Falcom president and producer Toshihiro Kondo via Game Informer
As a direct sequel to Trails of Cold Steel III, the release times also should be very bearable, especially for those who aren’t finished with the prior games yet. And honestly, those should be almost everyone, since Trails of Cold Steel III is still very recent. While PS4 users got it last fall, it just came out on PC a week ago!
So, keeping that in mind, the staggered release shouldn’t be a big issue for most. Just as it was the case with its predecessor, Trails of Cold Steel IV will be out first on the PS4. Again this fall. PC and Nintendo Switch users will have to wait a while longer with an unknown date in 2021. Our bet is, it’ll be again sometime in spring.
