The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds ditches Nintendo’s old-school convention

Bob Dylan once said, "The times, they are a changin." I don't think he was referring to Nintendo when he wrote that song, but it definitely applies to Nintendo's latest announcement.

The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between World will abandon a previous formula used in previous Zelda games. As explained by Iwata, in previous games from the franchise there was a rule that you could only get a new item at a new dungeon, and that puzzles in that specific dungeon were solved using this new item.

Nintendo is looking to change things up this time around and offer a new gameplay experience. To that end, A Link Between Worlds will abandon this conventions and allow you complete dungeons in any order that you like.

By visiting Rovio's shop you can rent items that are required to complete specific dungeons. This will allow you to decide how to progress through the story. It's a bold change for the long-standing franchise, but I think we can all agree that it's one worth making.
