The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask 3D, Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate contribute to the New Nintendo 3DS’ fast start

More good news for Nintendo

Nintendo might be busy rolling around in the money they made off of the New Nintendo 3DS, but let's be honest – the New 3DS is selling so well because of The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask 3D and Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate.

The new Majora's Mask 3D and Monster Hunter game are basically outselling their predeccessors by double at launch. Majora's Mask 3D sold around 340,000 units in North America and 230,000 in Europe. Comparatively, A Link Between Worlds sold 180,000 and 150,000, respectively. While Nintendo hasn't finished compiling the exact sales data for Monster Hunter 4 in the U.S., around 110,000 units were sold in Europe.

It wasn't said, but I'm pretty sure we can find a correlation between the number of people playing these games and the amount of New Nintendo 3DS sales. I'm not saying that the New Nintendo 3DS isn't awesome enough to sell without having blockbuster games release at the same time, but I'm saying it definitely got some help from the those games.

Capcom has come out and said that MH4U is selling "more than three times as fast as Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate in quick estimation."
