Nintendo has removed the veil of ambiguity surround a Fall 2015 release for their co-op heavy 3DS exclusive, The Legend of Zelda: Tri Force Heroes. The game will officially be releasing on October 23, 2015 exclusively on the 3DS.
Tri Force Heroes made its reveal during Nintendo's digital E3 2015 presentation, the game was described as more 'serious' cooperative Zelda game by game director Hiro Shikata. "I wanted players to cooperatively enjoy more serious Zelda gameplay elements, like solving puzzles and going through dungeons," he said.
The gameplay in The Legend of Zelda: Tri Force Heroes has up to three players play as Link. Each player will have the option to select a hero with a unique outfit equipped that has a special boost or ability. According to Nintendo's explanation, "One outfit might grant the wearer the ability to shoot arrows, for example, while another could provide more life-saving hearts."
There will be a new Totem mechanic in the game, allowing the three Link characters jump up and stack on top of each other to reach higher ground or solve puzzles. The game is not limited to only cooperative gameplay, it can also be played solo.
