The Legend of Zelda: Triforce Heroes brings cooperative multiplayer to 3DS

Team up to explore dungeons and solve puzzles

Nintendo has announced The Legend of Zelda: Triforce Heroes, a new cooperative multiplayer adventure game coming to the Nintendo 3DS in Fall 2015.

Whereas multiplayer in past games focused more on competitive multiplayer, Triforce Heroes will have players work cooperatively as they travel through dungeons and solve puzzles.

"I wanted players to cooperatively enjoy more serious Zelda gameplay elements, like solving puzzles and going through dungeons," said game director Hiromasa Shikata during the E3 gameplay presentation.

The footage showed off a new totem mechanic in which Link can pick up his other two companions so that they can stack up to reach higher places, activate switches, and focus on the weak points of taller enemies. Triforce Heroes will also feature a fashion element in which players can collect items to create outfits with new abilities.

Though primarily designed as a cooperative multiplayer game, Triforce Heroes will support single-player. In single-player, two doll-like characters will join Link, and you'll be able to switch between them to solve puzzles.

To kick off their E3 presentation, Nintendo revealed Star Fox Zero for Wii U.
