The Legend of Zelda Wii U listed for 2016 release

One of six games confirmed for Wii U this year

We were already supposed to be adventuring in the new Legend of Zelda on Wii U by now, but thanks to an "indefinite delay" back in May of last year, the highly anticipated game was "TBD". There was speculation when the delay was first announced that Nintendo was working to transition to the game to the company's next console, the mysteriously codenamed "Nintendo NX."

Well, thankfully, that doesn't appear to be the case. In revealing its financials for the past nine months, Nintendo also shed light on some of its upcoming Wii U releases.

The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess HD, Star Fox Zero, and Pokkén Tournament have confirmed release dates of March 4th, March 18th, and April 22nd, respectively.

Meanwhile, Mario & Sonic at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games, Shin Megami Tensei X Fire Emblem, and The Legend of Zelda are all dated with the 2016 release window.

Two additional games — "Project Giant Robot" and "Project Guard" — are "to be determined."

Nintendo revealed that Wii U sales have officially now surpassed 12 million units
