The Men in Black and Jump Street franchises are about to crossover

There's a twist, there's always a twist

Sony is set to expand the Jump Street universe with a female-driven cast that will crossover into the Men in Black universe. What will happen to the beloved Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum duo? They will be the ones entering the Men in Black universe to investigate aliens.

Whether or not Will Smith or Tommy Lee Jones will be making a come-back in the crossover isn't clear, but Producer Neal Moritz will be working alongside directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller, who directed the first two Jump Street reboot films, along with Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum who starred in them. The writers of Broad City Lucia Aniello and Paul Downs will be writing the female-driven Jump Street film.

The sudden move to a female-driven cast with Jump Street, Ghostbusters (due in July), and the wanted female version of The Expendables is interesting. The segregation between an all-male cast and all-female seems unecessary. At least the new Jump Street will still feature Hill and Tatum.

Don't get me wrong, gender equality could be what they are aiming for – but films aren't like restrooms… You can have a mixed gender film.
