The Mission Impossible 5 name and trailer are coming very soon

Will pay homage to the original television series

If I had to rank the Mission Impossible movies from best to worst, they would be: Mission: Impossible, Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol, Mission: Impossible 3, and Mission: Impossible 2. Honestly, they're all good outside of the second film. So considering that Ghost Protocol was excellent, I can't wait to see what Mission: Impossible 5 has in store for moviegoers.

The Mission: Impossible franchise has had a lot of different directors and styles, with the most recent being Brad Bird for Ghost Protocol. Directing the fifth film in the franchise is Chris McQuarrie, and he plans to give the film an old-school, retro vibe.

McQuarrie had a Twitter Q&A session over the weekend, and there were some new details revealed during it. Here's the highlights, courtesy of CBM:

  • The first official trailer will be arriving very soon as will the film's official name, poster, and the first promotional photos of the cast.
  • The finale did not have to be reshot, it just had to be prepped. They are currently shooting it as we speak.
  • Both Paul Patton (Mission: Impossible –  Ghost Protocol) and Maggie Q (Mission: Impossible 3) were asked to return, but unfortunately were unavailable.
  • The film will pay homage to the original television series and have a bit of an "old-school" vibe throughout.
  • Jeremy Renner (The Avengers) and Ving Rhames (Mission: Impossible 1-4) will have expanded roles compared to the last outing, and Simon Pegg (Star Trek) will be getting his hands dirty.
  • Sean Harris (Prometheus) will be playing the film's villain.
  • McQuarrie broke his own personal record for footage recorded.
  • Tom Cruise and Jeremy Renner are both very proficient when it comes to action scenes.

Mission: Impossible 5 releases in theaters on July 31, 2015.
