The Mortal Kombat film may have just got jumpstarted again

The Mortal Kombat movie reboot has been bogged down in development hell for a while now. Despite having brought on Oren Uziel and Dave Callaham to write the script, it’s been basically stalled out. That might be turning around with a new attachment to the project- in the form of Aquaman and Furious 7 director, James Wan as a producer.

If the negotiations pan out, Wan will be bringing with him the clout that he’s earned through successful films like Insidious, The Conjuring and, of course, Furious 7. The script itself is said to be a departure from the established mythos of the games, instead utilizing a character who finds himself suddenly caught up in the Outworld/Earth battle and will focus more on the actual martial arts the franchise is built around.

That said, as long as that blind cheeseball nut of a Frenchman returns, there can’t be much to complain about.
