The New Day want to be WWE 2K17 cover stars

WWE 2K17 has so far kept the focus on Goldberg with its promotional material, but one WWE tag-team thinks that they should be the cover stars… The New Day.

After what can only be described as a white hot year for the charismatic tag-team champions, it would make a great deal of sense from a marketing standpoint to put Xavier Woods, Big E and Kofi Kingston in the spotlight.

During an interview with GamesMaster, Big E said: “It’s a slam dunk: the three of us, clearly. Xavier is owning gaming right now. Plus, we’ve been tag champs for over 200 days. We’re out there killing it, making people laugh, we have the power of positivity that’s infectious.”

Big E made reference to the success of Xavier Woods' YouTube channel, UpUpDownDown, which is centred around gaming, which brings forward the opportunity to have somebody on the game case that is interested in, well… playing games!

While the tag-team champs might well be popular in the ring, they have gained a significant following by streaming as well, and while Big E and co. might be fooling around by throwing their name in the hat to be cover stars, it might just work.

Critics of WWE programming might well argue that the company struggles to keep people invested in their characters, or get over as some would say, but New Day have become one of the most must-see factions WWE have right now.

With that being said, having the trio on the game case of WWE 2K17 could be a very popular choice, however nothing has been confirmed as of yet. 2K Sports are aiming towards an October 2016 launch for WWE 2K17, with no details of an exact date released thus far.
