The new trailer for Marvel’s Ant-Man is here

Marvel has released a new trailer for upcoming film Ant-Man, and ya know what? It isn't too bad!

Admittedly, I was initially skeptical about the movie, which stars Paul Rudd (Role Models, I Love You, Man) as Scott Lang/Ant-Man. The first teaser trailer did little to convince me for the potential of a movie about a guy that shrinks down to the size of an ant and fights bad guys. I just couldn't get a good feel for the type of movie it was going to be.

The new trailer addresses some of my concerns, though it still seems all over the place tonally. There's going to be humor — you have to expect that with Paul Rudd as the star. But it's also going to have action, and the way these action shots seem to unfold looks really awesome. I'm just confused because you have these seemingly dark, exciting action shots and then you get a Thomas the Engine joke thrown in there.

Regardless, Ant-Man's ability to shrink into the size of an ant has some really big potential in terms of action sequences, and today's trailer gives us a look at some of those possibilities. We also get our first full look at Ant-Man's nemesis, Yellowjacket.

Ant-Man is set to hit theaters on July 17th.
