In 2009, James Cameron released one of the highest grossing movies of all time, Avatar. The sci-fi film blew viewers away with its incredible special effects and it quickly broke many box office records. Since the release of the film, Cameron has been hard at work on not one, not two, not even three, but four Avatar sequels.
We've heard little details here and there about the films but production had yet to begin at those times. Today, that all changes. The official Avatar Facebook page revealed that production on all 4 Avatar films begins today and now we know when they'll be released… and it's not soon at all. Avatar 2, 3, 4, and 5 will release in the following order: December 18th, 2020, December 17th, 2021, December 20th, 2024, and December 19th, 2025. That's right, the fifth Avatar film won't release for almost a decade!
It's entirely possibly these dates will move forward or backward as Avatar 2 was planned to have released last year but that obviously never happened. Are you looking forward to spending the early 2020s sitting in the movie theater, watching blue aliens fight humans or do weird tail sex (or whatever they do)? Let us know in the comments below!
