In a move that should surprise absolutely no one, the ESRB has rated upcoming PlayStation 4 exclusive The Order: 1886 with an "M" for Mature.
As expected, The Order: 1886 will offer players blood and gore, intense violence, and strong language. But in a surprise reveal, the rating also outed nudity and sexual content contained within the game. Honestly, I'm not really too surprised by any of this.
Reading over the summary, The Order: 1886 has a couple of instances of sexual content including a brothel you can visit during the course of the game that "depicts prostitutes with exposed breasts." There's even a sequence that "depicts a topless woman gyrating on top of a man." The summary notes that the act is "partially obscured." There's also a "fleeting depiction of male genitalia" in the game. All of this coupled with all those mustaches… man, I'm starting to feel like I'm going to be playing a 70's porno.
So, boobs and dongs. Got it. Now can we please move on and not make a big deal about this?
The Order: 1886 is due out February 20 exclusively on PlayStation 4. How long before the first claims of sexism begin to pop up? Ya know, because boobs and dicks don't exist in real life and it's not like anyone has ever visited a brothel in the past — especially in the Victorian era.
