After releasing the official soundtrack last week, Rockstar Games has announced the release date for the score of Red Dead Redemption 2. Composed by longtime Rockstar collaborator Woody Jackson, the 22-song album will release digitally on August 9th.
“Writing the score for Red Dead Redemption 2 was an incredibly ambitious project and I couldn’t be prouder of the results,” said Jackson. “We were creating a living soundscape for a wildly diverse cross section of 19th century America. After all these years working with so many talented people, I can’t wait to share these songs beyond the world of the game.”
Those who pre-order now on iTunes will get three songs right away including Outlaws from the West, Fleeting Joy, and Country Pursuits. If you’re a Spotify user, you can listen to these songs at no extra charge right now.

The score of Red Dead Redemption 2 is an incredibly strong one that manages to capture a slew of emotions from joy, excitement, dread, and sadness throughout the ups and downs of the story. Woody Jackson composed the score for the first Red Dead Redemption and knew he had to make something really special so he brought in a lot of help.
Notable inclusions include Arca (Kanye West collaborator), Colin Stetson (Hereditary), David Ferguson (engineer for Johnny Cash), and over a hundred others. It’s a production fit for a big-budget film, which feels fitting for a game like Red Dead Redemption 2.
You can pre-order the original score now and also purchase the official soundtrack which includes songs like Cruel World by Willie Nelson and D’Angelo’s Unshaken.
