The Outer Worlds launch trailer and PC system requirements

One week till it drops

With one week left until the release of The Outer Worlds, developer Obsidian has released the launch trailer for their action-RPG. The game has generated quite the hype around it for becoming the spiritual successor to the Fallout series. Watch it below!

The past year will go down as a major turning point for the iconic RPG developer Obsidian Entertainment. The studio sadly had a rough time getting in the spotlight as a premier developer, even though they enjoy a darling status among RPG aficionados. That’s mostly due to creating absolute masterpiece titles like Alpha Protocol, Fallout: New Vegas and more, which suffered from not enough time and budget to polish. Hardly the fault of a studio which was basically relegated as a second choice among publishers.

Lost in transit while on a colonist ship bound for the furthest edge of the galaxy, you awake decades later only to find yourself in the midst of a deep conspiracy threatening to destroy the Halcyon colony. As you explore the furthest reaches of space and encounter various factions, all vying for power, the character you decide to become will determine how this player-driven story unfolds. In the corporate equation for the colony, you are the unplanned variable.

As such, last year’s news that Obsidian was acquired by Microsoft led to RPG fans being thrilled that now the developer would get enough resources to create quality games they deserve to. Around the same time, Obsidian unveiled The Outer Worlds and they made no secret that it was basically meant as an unofficial Fallout game. Together with Fallout 76’s disastrous launch, Obsidian and TOW garnered insane amounts of hype.

With an imminent release, we are close to finally tell ourselves whether The Outer Worlds was indeed worth the excitement or if Bethesda would keep the crown of FPS-RPG King. TOW is coming out on October 25th for PC, PS4 and Xbox One. A Nintendo Switch version is also in the works but there’s no release date yet. In the meantime, check out the PC system requirements:
