Nintendo revealed the new version of Pokemon Sun and Pokemon Moon during their Pokemon Direct today. According to the direct, Pokemon Ultra Sun and Pokemon Ultra Moon will be releasing on the 3DS this November with an alternate story taking place in the world of Pokemon Sun and Pokemon Moon, new Pokemon that didn't appear in the original versions and undetailed "new features."
This announcement came after countless rumors on a Pokemon game for the Nintendo Switch, titled Pokemon Stars, the Pokemon producer Junichi Masuda hinting at a Switch Pokemon game and a new rumor just released this week.
Something interesting has happened though, something that keeps the hope for a Nintendo Switch release.
When Nintendo posted the game on their official press site, it listed the game for both 3DS and Nintendo Switch. The listing has been corrected to say 3DS only, which suggests the listing could be an error or something they want to keep a surprise.
Pokemon Ultra Sun and Pokemon Ultra Moon will release for the 3DS on November 17th.
Update:
Nintendo clarified that it was an error to Kotaku:
Consider our Switch dreams dashed (unless Nintendo released it under a different name for Switch, which makes that statement true – at least that's what one rumor said and that rumor got the release date for the game correct).
