The PS4 Pro features an additional 1 GB of RAM

Regardless of how you feel about the idea of iterative consoles, they are a thing and are likely here to stay for the foreseeable future. Mark Cerny, the Lead Architect on Sony's PS4 Pro sat down with IGN to talk technical specifications, and one of the things he happened to mention was that the PS4 Pro will feature an additional Gigabyte of memory.

He said:

"We felt games needed a little more memory, about 10 percent more, so we added about 1GB of slow, conventional DRAM to the console."

So what exactly will this extra DRAM do for you? Cerny says that games will now have an additional 512 MBs to work with, bringing it to a total of about 5.5 GBs with the rest being allocated to the console's interface. For games, the additional MBS will be "used for the various buffers needed when rendering high-resolution or higher-quality graphics."

While the assets of the games will remain the same, players can expect an uptick in resolution on a lot of finer details. The PlayStation 4 Pro launches on November 10th, 2016.
