Continuing to provide Xbox owners with variety, Microsoft and Twentieth Century Fox are partnering to bring the characters of Springfield to Minecraft on Xbox One and Xbox 360.
Scheduled to release in late February 2015, The Simpsons downloadable content pack will include the entire Simpsons family — Homer, Marge, Bart, Lisa, and Maggie — as well as 19 other characters from Springfield Elementary School.
“We have an active community of more than 14 million die-hard Minecraft fans on Xbox Live enjoying the wide range of downloadable content on Xbox, and they have been clamoring for us to bring Simpsons characters to the game,” said Phil Spencer, Head of Xbox. “We are thrilled to partner with Twentieth Century Fox and Gracie Films to bring THE SIMPSONS to life on Minecraft Xbox 360 and Xbox One editions. I can’t wait to see what the community creates.”
The Simpsons downloadable content pack will release for Minecraft: Xbox One Edition and Xbox 360 Edition in late February and will be available for $1.99. Microsoft, the new owner of the Minecraft franchise, has plans to bring the DLC to other platforms, like PlayStation, but we'll have to wait for information on that.
