The Sims 4 is getting its first expansion pack. Announced today, the Get to Work Expansion Pack — which I guess is somehow different than the recently released Outdoor Retreat "game pack" — will offer players three new career options.
The new career options are Doctor, Scientist, and Detective, and each one offers you a fully playable career venue to fulfill your Sims' ambitions. As a doctor, your sims will spend their work days saving lives, treating patients, performing emergency surgery, and for the first time ever, delivering babies. As a Scientist, your sim will build crazy inventions and collect unique specimens for diabolical creations like the Sim Ray. You can then use those inventions to help or torment fellow sims. And lastly, as a Detective, you'll investigate crime scenes, interrogate Sims, and arrest criminals while working your way through the police force ranks. Each career offers a new venue — Hospital, Science Lab, and Police Station — fully stocked with new objects.
If the idea of working for the man is a put off, the new expansion also gives you the power to create your own unique retail business. You'll have a number of different types of retail businesses opportunities available to you, including bakeries, clothing boutiques, art galleries, bookstores, and more. You can select what items to sell, manage your employees, and even upsell customers. And, using the game's Build Mode, you can customize every facet of your business.
The expansion also adds two new skills, Baking and Photography, as well as aliens. That's right, f*cking aliens. I don't know how it'll work, but EA teases that aliens are walking among your sims and you'll be able to discover a "mysterious Alien dimension."
The Sims 4 Get to Work is coming to both PC and Mac this April for $39.99.
