The spirit of Harambe lives on in NBA 2K16

Fly high dude...

Earlier this year, Cincinnati's beloved gorilla, Harambe, was shot and killed after a child fell into his pen at the Cincinnati Zoo and the zoo officials believed he was a threat to the child's life. Some debate that he was no threat at all and that he was wrongfully killed, some say the zoo did the right thing. Initially, people were in shock at the event but the internet quickly made light of the situation turning Harambe into an internet icon which will never be forgotten.

The gorilla has become a piece of internet history and has popped up in a variety of ways ranging from people photoshopping him into things or just inserting his name into jokes, but this next way may take the cake.

Popular basketball game, NBA 2K16, was one of 2015's biggest releases and allows players to live the dream of being a basketball player in a variety of ways. Sports website, Bleacher Report, typically uses the NBA2K series as a way to simulate hypothetical situations, both realistic and not so realistic. Their newest test has inserted the legendary Harambe into the game as a Cleveland Cavaliers player (since Cincinnati doesn't have an NBA team). You can witness the ape absolutely dominating on the court by dunking over human players and running around with basketball icons such as LeBron James and Kyrie Irving in the video below.

In related news, Harambe has reached such a high level of popularity that the CEO of Relativity has agreed to make a film about him if he gets a million retweets.
