The System Shock remake has been delayed to 2018

The father of Bioshock, System Shock, is getting a full-fledged remake and was set for release late 2017 but the remake has now been delayed by developer Nightdive Studios to 2018.

The interest for a System Shock remake is really high and Nightdive Studios managed to complete their $900,000 Kickstarter with 16 days to spare. They managed to scrape together a total of $1,350,700, but now it seems like fans will have to wait a bit longer for the fruits of Nightdive's labor. The previous release window of December 2017 has been changed to the second quarter of 2018, or Q2 2018 in fancy terms.'

System Shock one and two are considered classics in the gaming world and inspired more modern classics as the Bioshock games and getting to play such a classic with modern day graphics and gameplay is something obviously many gamers are looking forward to, at least if you look at the Kickstarter.

Unfortunately, Nightdive Studios has more bad news. They were originally planning to release the remake on all platforms simultaneously, but they have now gone out and said that they might not be able to release System Shock on all platforms at the same time anymore. Though splitting up the release for different platforms is not uncommon, developer Fatshark delayed the console version of Warhammer: End Times – Vermintide a whole year to make sure that gamers to a high-quality game. So gamers should not worry about delayed release, it most likely means a better game for whatever platform they want to play on.

The System Shock remake is now scheduled for Q2 2018 and will release on Xbox One, Windows, Linux, Mac, and PlayStation 4, though release will probably on different dates for most platforms.
