The Unreal Engine 4 fan resurrection of Star Wars Battlefront 3 has been approved by Steam

It's happening!

Remember that Star Wars Battlefront 3 fan remake that was resurrecting the game and bringing into Unreal Engine 4? Well, it's officially headed to Steam.

Star Wars Battlefront 3 was cancelled years ago, but fans have not stopped dreaming about the game. Since it's cancellation we have seen gameplay leaksawesome aerial battles and heard various rumors that suggested the game had been at around 75% complete before being cancelled (a developer on the project called that rumor "just bullsh*t").

The thirst for Battlefront 3 has been real, so real that when the development build for the game leaked fans knew it was time for a remake. That's where Star Wars: Galaxy in Turmoil (the official name of the project), this game will be an official, fan created remake of Battlefront 3. It will be entirely free and available on Steam.

"It is with great pleasure that as of today I am able to officially announce that Frontwire Studios has officially signed a distribution deal with Steam/Valve for the game Galaxy in Turmoil," Frontwire president Tony Fergie Romanelli said in a statement (via GameSpot). "After ongoing discussion between Valve representatives and myself, Valve/Steam has agreed to ship Galaxy in Turmoil to its millions of users for FREE."

If you're worried that this game will get cancelled or squashed out by Disney, you're not alone – the developers feel the same way.

"I'll be honest–I've had mild concerns myself from time to time," Romanelli explained. "However, Valve clearly lacks that same concern. By agreeing to publish Galaxy in Turmoil, Valve is assisting us in growing and ensuring the longevity of the Galaxy in Turmoil project and community as a whole."
