The first season of Marvel's Daredevil on Netflix was awesome, and it looks like season 2 is going to continue being awesome. Marvel announced that actor Jon Bernthal has been cast as Frank Castle, better known as The Punisher, for season 2 of Marvel's Daredevil.
Bernthal is probably best known for his role as Shane in The Walking Dead, but he's also been in Wolf of Wall Street and Fury, and appears in the upcoming action thriller The Accountant. The character he is portraying, The Punisher, is one of Marvel's most popular characters. The Punisher is a vigilante who wants to clean up New York City's Hell's Kitchen, and he isn't afraid to use lethal force to get the results he desires.
The character was played by Dolph Lundgren in 1989's The Punisher, but I'd bet most people have never seen that. Probably the most popular and well-known version is from 2004's The Punisher, starring Thomas Jane as Frank Castle. After that came the forgettable Punisher: War Zone, where Ray Stevenson played Punisher, but Thomas Jane returned to the role in a short film in 2012 called The Punisher: Dirty Laundry. Bernthal can definitely look and act the part, so it's exciting to see what they do with the character.
Daredevil stars Charlie Cox as Matt Murdock (Daredevil), Deborah Ann Woll, Elden Henson, Rosario Dawson and Vincent D'Onofrio.
