Activision has confirmed The Walking Dead: Survival Instinct, a new FPS based on AMC's rendition of Robert Kirkman's comic book series, will be available on the Nintendo Wii U. Furthermore, it will launch alongside the previously announced Xbox 360, PS3, and PC editions, which have been confirmed for a March 29, 2013 release in the UK.
According to Digital Spy, Survival Instinct will make use of the GamePad's touch screen as an inventory management system.
"We were over halfway through the project when the Wii U thing started coming about," producer Glenn Gamble told Digital Spy. "We didn't want to change the game, because the game had already been established, so we tried to say, 'What can we augment with the Wii U version?'
"That's where it's basically a more elegant inventory management system," he explained. "With the Wii U you have access to your backpack at all times, so you can tap what weapons you want, you can drop stuff. It's a lot more streamlined."
We haven't yet heard the release date for the United States, but judging by the UK release, we estimate Tuesday, March 26, 2013.
Earlier this month, leaked gameplay footage of The Walking Dead: Survival Instinct disappointed many fans of the series. Activision quickly responded, defending the footage was of an early build of the game edited by a fan. We don't know exactly how it looks or plays now, but we do have a fresh batch of screenshots to give us a better idea.
