The Weekly Drop (8/10/15): Fallout Shelter highlights a slow week of game releases

Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons – Xbox One, PS4 – August 12th

First released in August 2013, 505 Games is looking to bring their emotionally-charged puzzle-adventure game to PS4 with “a new generation update” and additional content in the form of a commented Director’s Walkthrough, Soundtrack, and Art Galleries.

Fallout Shelter – Android – August 13th

The wait for Bethesda’s mega mobile hit Fallout Shelter is almost over. After releasing on the App Store exclusively for iOS devices the day it was announced, the free-to-play mobile game, in which you are Overseer of your own underground vault, immediately shot to the top of the charts. As Overseer, it's your job to ensure the survival of your fellow Vault dwellers, keeping them happy, managing resources, and exploring the post-apocalyptic world outside. Accompanying the Android version’s release this week is a free update that adds Mr. Handy, Deathclaws, and Molerats.

Which of the above mentioned games are you looking forward to playing this week?

Toy Soldiers: War Chest – Xbox One, PC (August 11th), PS4 (August 12th)

Toy Soldiers: War Chest is a fast-paced game that brings  your favorite childhood toys and action figures to life in a genre-bending mix of strategy defense and action gameplay. By building turrets and upgrading turrets, you must stop the enemy units from reaching the toybox. And to help, you can take direct command of the heroes from your childhood, such as He-Man, GI Joe, and more.

OlliOlli2: Welcome to Olliwood – PC – August 11

Previously released on PS4 and Vita back in March, this skateboarding game makes it PC debut this week. You can find our review for the game on PlayStation version here. Check back tomorrow for our take on the PC version.

Goat Simulator – PS4, PS3 – August 11th

Not much to say about this one. You’re a goat, and your goal is to cause destruction.

You know it’s August when the most noteworthy game launching in the week is a mobile title. While Fallout Shelter’s Android release is easily one of the most anticipated of the week, there are actually quite a few other games to get excited about. Everybody’s Gone to the Rapture, for starters, makes its debut on PS4 this week, followed by a re-release of Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons for PS4 and Xbox One. Check out the list of games arriving this week.

Everybody’s Gone to the Rapture – PS4 – August 11th

Aside from Fallout Shelter, this is probably the most anticipated game of the week. Launching exclusively for the PlayStation 4, Everybody’s Gone to the Rapture is the spiritual successor to Dear Esther. Best described as an interactive piece of art, fully driven by a narrative experience (or perhaps, just “Walking Simulator), Everybody’s Gone to the Rapture has received glowing reviews. Check ours out here.
