Here we go everyone, the first real week of game releases. We're officially past the holiday lull and gearing up for the start of a brand new year of game releases. And this week, we've got four new ones. Well, two new ones and two remakes — but hey, more games! So without further further adieu, let's take a look at what's coming to the Xbox One, PS4, and Wii U this week.
Citizens of Earth – January 20, 2015 – Xbox One, PS4, Wii U
Reminiscent of Earthbound, Citizens of Earth is a role-playing game that puts you in the shoes of the Vice President of the World. As if that didn't sound like a big enough responsibility, just wait until you start to notice some pretty odd things happening around town… Really odd things, like violent coffee beans and violent stop signs. Surely you, the VP of the World, don't plan on getting your hands dirty though. So during the game you'll recruit everyday townsfolk — like the baker, a homeless guy, or a geeky hacker — to investigate and fight your battles for you. Citizens of Earth is releasing January 20 for Xbox One, PS4, and Wii U. Stay tuned for our review.
Resident Evil HD Remaster – January 20, 2015 – Xbox One, PS4
"You were almost a Jill sandwich." Relive the horror of that line and dozens of others just as painful with Resident Evil HD Remaster. So this is actually an improvement on 2002's "REmake" of the original 1996 version of Resident Evil. Yea, there's been a lot of remakes. What's cool about this one, though, is that you can choose to play between the classic 4:3 aspect ratio or the more modern 16:9 widescreen. There's also the option to play with the classic control scheme of the original game, or play with an alternative setup where the character moves directly in the direction fo the analogue stick. But who wants to do that?
Saints Row 4: Re-Elected – January 20, 2015 – Xbox One, PS4
Remember how fun Saints Row 4 was on last-gen systems? Now you can enjoy this wild n' crazy ride, which takes you and the rest of the Saints to a bizarre Steelport simulation setup by the leader of an alien invasion, on Xbox One and PS4.
Saints Row: Gat Out of Hell – January 20, 2015 – Xbox One, PS4
Gat Out of Hell is a standalone expansion to Saints Row 4 that puts you in the shoes of Johnny Gat or Kinzie Kensington. When the leader of the Saints gets sucked into the pits of hell, it’s up to Gat and Kensington to go after him on a rescue mission where you’ll face demons, the horrors of the underworld, and the Devil himself.
Note: Saints Row: Gat Out of Hell is due out for Xbox One, PS4, Xbox 360, PS3, and PC. Although you can purchase this as a standalone title for $30, Gat Out of Hell will also be sold as a bundle with Saints Row 4: Re-elected for $50.
