The recent delay of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt will not affect development on CD Projekt Red's other role-playing game, Cyberpunk 2077.
Speaking to GameSpot, Projekt Red CEO Marcin Iwinski explained "Cyberpunk 2077 is developed by a separate team within CD Projekt Red, so the development of Cyberpunk 2077 is not really affected. Like The Witcher 3, Cyberpunk 2077 is also coming to Xbox One, PS4, and PC.
Although Projekt Red is shifting some Cyberpunk 2077 developers to The Witcher team, this is just standard practice, according to Iwinski.
"In order to ship a huge RPG we do use help of certain team members between teams. It works this way between Cyberpunk 2077 and The Witcher 3," he said. Oftentimes, developers will bounce between teams to finalize "key" elements, so "no harm done here," he added.
"We are working hard to deliver an outstanding RPG and rest assured, that all the learnings on The Witcher 3 are being applied to the Cyberpunk 2077 development," Iwinski said.
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt was expected to launch this fall, but was delayed until February 2015. In a statement issued to gamers and shareholders, Projekt Red explained that the additional months "will let us achieve the quality that will satisfy us, the quality gamers expect from us." We haven't heard much about Cyberpunk 2077 since its reveal in Octoer 2012. We were treated to a brief trailer in January 2013, but CD Projekt Red hasn't really detailed the game in length. There's also no expected release window for the game, with Projekt Red simply saying it'll come "when it's ready."
