The Witcher 3 devs: ‘There will be no graphical downgrade’

Final version will look better than latest screenshots

CD Projekt Red released a batch of screenshots for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt last week. The screenshots were met with both excitement and apprehension.

One screenshot particularly in question (the one attached to this article) showed off a pack of wolves preparing to attack Geralt. But it wasn’t the attack that drew the communities attention. It was the fur on the wolves. People complained of ‘jaggies’ of the fur not being on par with what they were previously showing. Someone even went as far as saying that PR is touting “an overblown vision of a game that doesn’t exist.”

Responding to the skepticism, CD Projekt Red community manager Marcin Momot had this to say:

Please keep in mind that the game is still in production phase. Certain things are still being worked on. The final version of the game will look better than what can be seen in the latest screenshots – no matter the platform. As you probably know, when publishing screenshots, some of them can be subjectively less appealing than others (depending on one’s opinion), that’s perfectly normal. The most important thing here is that the game will come out looking gorgeous when we are done working on it. There will be no downgrade.

There you have it, if you were concerned about The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt getting downgraded on consoles — it’s not.
