The Witcher 3 patch 1.07 to address inventory, Geralt movement speed, and more

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt's patch 1.07 hasn't released yet — CD Projekt Red says it's "coming soon" — but today the developer finally posted some of the patch notes. While the full list of features, tweaks, and changes hasn't been released yet, CD Projekt Red did at least share some of the "key changes" being introduced in this "very large update."

To no one's surprise, the update's primary focus is on addressing one of the biggest complaints about the game — inventory management. With update 1.07 we'll be getting a player stash for storing items. Additionally, crafting and alchemy components will no longer add to your overall inventory weight, and new sorting options will be available to help you easily browse what you're carrying.

Other features with update 1.07 include a new, alternative "movement response mode" for Geralt, possibly addressing player complaints that Geralt moves too slowly. And, of course, there are a mix of major and minor fixes for quest-related issues, performance enhancements, and improvements to horse behavior.

Here's the official list of key changes coming with update 1.07, courtesy of CDPR:

  • A new, alternative (optional) movement response mode for Geralt.
  • A player stash for storing items, available in various locations throughout the game. Stash locations are marked on the player's map.
  • Crafting and alchemy components no longer add to the overall inventory weight.
  • Books are now placed in a dedicated tab in the Inventory and books that have already been read are properly grayed out.
  • Multiple sorting options are now available in the Inventory.
  • Alchemy formulas and crafting diagrams can be "pinned", meaning all components and ingredients required to make them will be conveniently marked in the Shop panel.
  • Dozens of fixes for quest related issues, both major and minor.
  • A few performance enhancements, including the optimization of FX, scenes and general gameplay.
  • Various improvements to horse behavior.

Unfortunately, because this patch is so massive, CDPR won't be publishing free DLC this week. "We hope you understand our decision. We’ve gathered so much feedback from you over the past couple of weeks and we want to implement as much of it as possible," community lead Marcin Momot said.

Full patch notes for update 1.07 will be detailed later this week.
