The Witcher 3 ‘perfectly fine’ for newcomers

Gamers worried about playing The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt without first playing its two predecessors can rest easy knowing you'll be able to jump right in to CD Projekt RED's latest open-world action RPG.

Speaking to IGN, CD Projekt co-founder Marcin Iwinski said "People do not need to play The Withcer 1 or 2 before they jump into Wild Hunt; it's perfectly fine."

"The game has a great introduction that will make them feel right at home," he added, "and we're working really hard to communicate that fact."

Even though each game in The Witcher series has it's own story, Iwinski explained that those who have played through both games, or have read Andrzej Sapkowski's books will be "privy to a lot of stuff others may not get. That being said, the story is still very capable of standing on its own."

Elsewhere in the interview, Iwinski reaffirmed that The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is close to maxing out the power of Xbox One and PS4 — a statement we first heard from the studio back in September 2013. The Witcher 3 is due out in 2014 for Xbox One, PS4, and PC.
