CD Projekt Red today announced Gwent, a competitive card game built up of more than 150 cards and four factions which will be included in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt.
“Invented by dwarves and perfected over centuries of tavern table play, Gwent is a game of initial simplicity and ultimate depth,” the studio said, “something beloved by both road-weary travelers during long nights around the campfire and elegant nobles looking to liven up dragging dinner parties.”
As Eurogamer reports, Gwent appears to have been heavily influenced by Blizzard's Hearthstone, and may very well have been included in an effort to capitalize on the CCG wave the game has spawned.
As previously reported, those who purchase the Xbox One Collector’s Edition of the game will also receive two physical Gwent decks and a cloth map. All but these three items will be included in the Collector's Editions of other platforms.
