The first two pieces of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt's 16 planned free DLC packs are now available, developer CD Projekt RED confirmed.
Prior to today's launch, CD Projekt RED promised anyone who purchased The Witcher 3 16 pieces of free DLC — no season pass, no pre-order, no collector's edition necessary. The first bundle includes the Temerian Armor Set for Geralt (horse armor included, which is undoubtedly a dig at Oblivion's infamous horse armor), as well as a set of new beards and hairstyles for Geralt.
None of the free DLC is particularly substantial, but it's nice to see a developer not try to nickel-and-dime us for every little bit of content. Of course, The Witcher 3 will also be bolstered by paid DLC. Last month, CD Projekt RED announced an Expansion Pass for the game.
In case you missed it, The Witcher 3 Expansion Pass will include two "massive" expansions for the game — "Hearts of Stone" and "Blood and Wine" — that'll offer over 30 hours of additional gameplay. Hearts of Stone will premiere in October, while Blood and Wine is slated for release in the first quarter of 2016. Both are included in the Expansion Pas for $24.99, or can be purchased separately. Hearts of Stone is priced at $9.99 on its own, while Blood and Wine will cost $19.99.
