2015 Game of the Year, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt got its PS4 Pro patch at long last recently, despite developer CD Projekt RED's initial hesitation to do so. According to some users on Reddit and NeoGAF, the patch has caused some game crashing issues, which CD Projekt RED says they are rushing to address.
In an email to Eurogamer, a CD Projekt RED rep said:
"We are aware of the issues some users have been experiencing following the PS4 Pro Patch and we are looking into addressing those as soon as possible."
For an issue like that, anything other than a mad dash for a fix would be concerning. But given CD Projekt RED's history, they've earned the benefit of the doubt for an issue like this.
Naturally, Eurogamer's affiliate Digital Foundry took a long look at the PS4 Pro patch, comparing its performance with the PC version's, which is considered to be far and away the most superior version. Overall, the Pro manages to add a sharper resolution, but it does come at the cost of framerate in individual sections of the game.
