Over the Summer, CD Projekt Red released The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt: Game of the Year Edition which brought the main game, both expansions, every update, and every piece of free DLC that has ever released for the game all bundled into one package.
With the announcement of the PS4 Pro, CD Projekt Red has the opportunity to work on The Witcher 3 yet again by making it optimized for the more powerful console. Unfortunately, Witcher fans are going to have to deal with the game looking the same and not getting an enhancement patch.
CD Projekt Red revealed to Eurogamer that they would not be patching the game.
"Since we want to fully focus on Cyberpunk 2077 and Gwent, and converting The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt from a full HD game into a 4K one would be too much of a time and resource-consuming process, we decided not to release an edition of Wild Hunt supporting the new features of PlayStation Pro," the developer said.
CD Projekt Red isn't the only developer to decline optimization, Bungie has also stated that they have no plans to upgrade for the PS4 Pro yet. It's clear that not every PS4 game will get an enhancement patch, Sony has already said that a "majority" of games will be upscaled to 4K instead of play at native 4K resolution.
