The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt won’t be getting the Redkit modding tool anytime soon

Who started cutting onions?

CD Projekt Red released their official Modkit for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt today, but don't expect to see The Witcher 2's Redkit making its way to the latest installment in the series anytime soon. Marcin Momot, the Community Lead at CD Projekt Red, has confirmed that the Modkit is the only mod support for the Witcher 3.

"This is the mod support for the Wild Hunt," said Momot. "At this moment we are not planning to release anything else."

The Redkit was a mod extension for The Witcher 2 that acted as a game editor. It allowed you to create big worlds, communities, characters, forests, new objects and share your creations easily with the gaming community. It was the mod system that you might be thinking of when CD Projekt Red says they've released a Modkit.

What's the difference between the Modkit and Redkit? Quite a bit, actually. First and foremost, Modkit is not an editor. It is designed for people who are familiar with modding to make visual changes, change UI assets and script files. It is not the creative tool that Redkit was.
