The world’s first iOS controlled robotic ball is here

Orbotix has invented something quite particular here.  Imagine if you will, a ball about the size of a baseball, which you control via your iOS device.  This nifty little device is known as Sphero.  Via your iPhone or iPad, you can operate the ball, move it around, take pictures, and change its color.  From the videos it also seems like the ball is water proof and can operate without a current.

As if real life Marble Madness wasn’t enough for you, the Sphero also functions as a gaming system.  There are games you can play via the app.  The code is also public so app developers can make future applications for the ball.  Sphero comes with augmented reality abilities allowing any location to become a playground. My words don't do it justice, it's something that really has to be seen.  Watch the video below.

This robotic device can be bought from Apple, Amazon, and Brookstone for about $129.99.
