The auction for Michael Thommason’s legendary and Guinness-certified game collection met its end today, with the final bid resting just above $750k at $750,250. With approximately 11,000 games included, that leaves each game with a price tag of roughly $68.18.
GameGavel users peeps_10091970 claimed the lot after a fierce bidding war. The auction was sitting pretty at a mere $50,000 just 11 days ago when Thommason first announced that he would be selling the titanic collection off.
Thommason made it clear that the auction does not represent his departure from gaming when he first listed it.
“I simply have an immediately family and extended family that have needs that need to be addressed. While I do not wish to part with these games, I have responsibilities that I have made to others and this auction is how I will help meet them,” he said.
