The Xbox Preview Program has been an exclusive hub for a select number of Xbox One gamers to try out new games and features ahead of the general public. The only way to gain access to the program in the past was to be invited by someone who was a member. This will no longer be the case. Major Nelson announced today on his official blog that the program is being re-branded into the Xbox Insider Program and will soon be available to all Xbox One owners.
The program will be undergoing a few other changes as well. Here's the list that Major Nelson has provided:
- A new name – the Xbox Insider Hub
- Personalized to give you more relevant announcements, quests, and Insider content opportunities to get early access to select games and apps
- A new UI, inspired by the New Xbox One Experience, makes it easier to find the right info and provide more robust feedback
- The Xbox Insider profile card where your contributions in the program come front and center
- Support for multiple users on a console to participate and provide feedback
The changes to the program have already started to roll out gradually, but are only going to be in the hands of select Preview members. Pretty much, if you've been an active part of the Preview Program community in terms of providing feedback, you can expect Microsoft to look your way very soon. For the rest of the Preview members, it will take a few weeks for you to get the update.
There is currently no concrete release date for the Insider Program to reach all current Xbox One owners, but we will let you know as soon as we know more.
