Yes! Yes! YES!! YEEEESSSS! Square Enix, I could kiss you right now. Theatrhythm Final Fantasy was easily one of my favorite spin-off titles for the franchise. This of course is attributed by my love for Final Fantasy soundtracks, with Nobuo Uematsu still being my favorite composer, probably of all time. When I heard of Curtain Call, part of me was pumped because it was yet another reason to dive into another Theatrhythm game, with even more songs, and characters to unlock, but at the time, there was no US release specified. Today, Square Enix has made my day.
Theatrhythm: Curtain Call will feature over 200 songs and over 60 characters to unlock, along with numerous new features exclusive to Curtain Call.
- Versus Battle Mode – Players can now compete head-to-head with friends and other users.
- Quest Medley Mode – Songs from the vast FINAL FANTASY music catalogue make up unique quests; players can choose their own routes through short, medium and long quests. Players can also share these quests with friends.
- New Characters – The game features over 60 new and old characters, including Barret (FINAL FANTASY VII) and Yuna (FINAL FANTASY X-2). Characters from spin-offs, like Benjamin (FINAL FANTASY MYSTIC QUEST), Ramza (FINAL FANTASY TACTICS) and Zack (CRISIS CORE® -FINAL FANTASY VII-), also make their debut in this game.
- Collecta Crystarium – Clearing songs and winning battles allow players to obtain Collecta Cards that boost their character stats.
There is no actual release date specified yet, but Square Enix has stated the game will be coming later this year, for a retail price of $39.99.
