There are currently no plans for Gran Turismo 7

Gran Turismo has been a staple franchise for PlayStation since the very beginning. It's essentially PlayStation's Forza and it always shows off just how powerful the hardware is with intense graphics and great attention to detail.

Sadly, there hasn't been a GT game on PS4 yet because Gran Turismo Sport has been delayed so many damn times! The game will be releasing this October and it looks incredibly promising due to its use of VR, beautiful visuals, and much more. However, some people are already wondering how long it'll be before we can get our hands on another GT game and it sounds like it'll be quite a while.

Speaking with Finder, Polyphony Digital's CEO, Kazunori Yamauchi, stated that there are currently no plans for Gran Turismo 7.

“Gran Turismo 7 is not currently planned. All our studios are focused on Gran Turismo Sport and, once it is out, the DLC that follows afterwards.”

Due to how long Sport took to make, it's not entirely surprising that Polyphony is focused on supporting it for quite some time. They also probably don't want to jump head first into a brand new game as well. The only question is, will we have to wait until PlayStation 5 releases in the 2020s to see a new GT? It's hard to say but it doesn't seem unlikely, by the time they begin development on a new game they'll probably want to start focusing on new hardware to showcase how powerful it can be and possibly release as a launch title.

Gran Turismo Sport is out on October 17th, 2017 exclusively for PlayStation 4.
