It's happening, we are getting some new Mega Man content – but it's not what you think (unless you read the title, then it is). Before we get a new official game in the Mega Man series, we are getting a film from 20th Century Fox and Chernin Entertainment.
According to The Tracking Board, Chernin Entertainment’s CEO and owner of anime streaming service CrunchyRoll Peter Chernin is working as a producer on the film, along with David Ready and Michael Finfer who worked on the new Planet of the Apes films.
If you recognize Mega Man, but are unaware of the story, the game tells the story a man named Dr. Light and an android he built to be his lab assistant named Rock. Dr. Light's work was stolen by the evil Dr. Wily, who ended up making an evil robot with special weapons to take over the world.
Dr. Light, feeling responsible and looking for revenge reconfigured Rock into a battle droid with armor and a cannon, and renamed him Mega Man.
It's Hollywood though, so who says they have to stick to the source material? Vin Diesel as Mega Man anyone?
