There won’t be any more Xbox One backward compatible games until 2017

The year is winding down and new game releases are pretty much non-existant at this point. Xbox One's backward compatibility feature has kept gamers satisfied with the healthy number of great games available on the platform. However, Xbox is taking a short break on releasing more backward compatible games.

Major Nelson revealed on Twitter that last week's wave of backward compatible games would be the last wave for 2016. The team will be holding any new games from being released until 2017, presumably because they're not ready or they just want to space out the releases.

Head of Xbox Phil Spencer sounded confident when asked about the future of backward compatible games saying their January lineup "looks pretty good". 2016 saw games like Read Dead Redemption, Skate 3, Bully, Catherine, the Bioshock trilogy and hundreds more added to the Xbox One library and it sounds like they'll continue fleshing out this list in 2017.
