Last week, Bethesda gave us a brief look at the multiplayer maps that will be included in DOOM at launch. Today, the developers have given us a look at DOOM's multiplayer modes. DOOM will feature classic game modes to altered classics and will bring on unique spin on a real-world game. Unfortunately, only Deathmatch will be available in the upcoming beta.
The video above will give you a look at the multiplayer modes and you can find a brief description of the modes below:
Team Deathmatch
Team Deathmatch puts two teams of players against each other, competing to earn the most points by the time runs our or reach the preset score. Points are earned by killing enemy players.
Players can choose loadouts, customize their marine and become the demon by grab the rune. Power-ups and power weapons will also be available on the map.
Soul Harvest
Soul Harvest is similar to Team Deathmatch, but doesn't count points per kill. Points are gained by collecting the souls of their fallen foes. Each soul will be able to be picked up for a limited time and can be scooped up by anyone on either team. The opposing team earns points for grabbing a soul, but grabbing the soul of your own teammate will prevent their foes from gaining a soul point.
The map will contain a demon rune in the same location where the first player is killed, and this demon power-up will not have a time limit. Any enemy players killed by a demon drop two souls instead of one and a demon kill counts as five souls.
Freeze Tag
Instead of killing your opponents they get frozen in place. Teammates can thaw their allies by standing nearby for a set amount of time. The first team to freeze the entire opposing team will win, if there are unfrozen players by time runs out, the team with the most frozen players loses.
Frozen players can be moved about by foes and friends when shot or pushed around. This will allow teammates to knock their friends into hazards so they can respawn or prevent the enemy from unfreezing their teammates by shooting the hunk of ice further away from them.
Players can even collect teammates and do a mass unthawing by grouping them all together.
Warpath
Basically King of the Hill with extra things to deal with. In Warpath there's a single capture point moves around the map along a set path. In addition to the moving capture point, a demon rune moves along a similar path on the opposite side of the path.
Points are gained by whichever team controls the capture point. The game is won by the team that reaches a preset score first, or by the team with the most points when time runs out.
Domination
Domination includes up to three static capture points that are spread out across a map.Points are earned based on how long you control a capture point.
During a match, a demon rune spawns randomly throughout the arena. Demons can help decide the winner of the match.
Clan Arena
The last team standing wins. All pick-ups are removed from the map, and players won’t be able to restore their health or armor, no demon runes and no respawning.
Victory is earned by the team that fully eliminates all its foes – or by the team with the most remaining players when time runs out.
