This Fallout 4 mod turns you into Dogmeat

Modder Abbalovesyou of Nexusmods created a way for Fallout 4 players to explore the wasteland as none other than iconic canine companion Dogmeat.

Technically, Abbalovesyou’s “Be The Dog” mod allows you to become any dog in the game, from raider mutts to mutated feral beasts. Which strikes me as a moot addition, since every sane person will immediately load up Dogmeat. He won an award, after all, as did his real-life counterpart, River the German shepherd.

You can swap dog skins on the fly, though the change is purely cosmetic. All dogs feature the same four attacks: a normal bite, a different normal bite, a jumping bite and a running jumping bite. It's no Big Boy, but it'll serve.

The mod’s creator cautions against a few hitches, chief among the absence of the Pip-Boy HUD. You can still access and manipulate your Pip-Boy in dog form, but you won’t be able to see it. So, either memorize your inventory or, more somewhat more pragmatically, go through the game’s batch files, or perhaps the mobile app.

Guns or no, you will have a reason to fiddle with your Pip-Boy as a dog: the mod supports the game’s plethora of dog armor. Now, if we can just combine Be The Dog with Fallout 4’s Darth Vader mod pack—and obviously name it Dog Vader—we may win the Internet.
