This is it! Twitch Plays Pokémon is about to beat the game! Watch it here

After nearly 16 grueling days, the thousands of "players" participating in Twitch Plays Pokémon are about to collectively beat the game. So far, they've collected all eight gym badges and are currently facing the Elite Four, the final group of bosses in the main store of the 1996 Nintendo classic Pokémon Red. You can watch the action unfold in the stream below, though I warn you it could take a while.

What seemingly started off as a social experiment has turned into a fascinating story as thousands of players have used diplomacy (and sometimes anarchy) to conquer the game. And now we are just about there! We're so close I can taste it!

For those unfamiliar with Twitch Plays Pokémon, players can input a command into Twitch chat. Assuming it's in "diplomacy" mode, the game will take the command with the most votes and perform that action. If enough people vote to switch to "anarchy," then the game will take the first command it can process.
