A new controller in the Xbox ecosystem has been announced, and it’s probably the most unique this far. The 8BitDo Sn30 Pro is a tailor-made tiny Xbox controller that targets players who enjoy playing on their mobile devices. Whether that is native Android or game streaming.
If there are still any doubts in your mind whether game streaming is just the next fad that is going to be quickly forgotten, first of all have you been living under a rock? Both Microsoft and Sony (and other big players too) have been massively touting the ability to stream your games via the cloud consistently in the past years.
There’s good reason for that since starting with next-gen game streaming is looking to make a splash in the gaming world. Even if Google somewhat fumbled their attempt Stadia right from the start, Microsoft’s Project xCloud has been garnering nothing but praise ever since it entered its beta phase last year.
And things are only ever going to become bigger, with Microsoft planning to officially launch the streaming service later this year by combining it with their other massively successful subscription service Game Pass. The value at hand here is mouthwatering even if streaming games comes with inherent downsides like extra lag.
As part of that push towards game streaming, Microsoft has joined forces with venerable controller manufacturer 8BitDo to create a special Xbox-branded version of their popular mobile controller. The 8BitDo Sn30 Pro will natively support Android devices and was tested to work perfectly with Project xCloud. To make things easier to mobile gamers, the controller will even ship with an included phone clip for extra convenience!
Pre-orders for the tiny Xbox controller are live now via Amazon at $44.99 with a release date being September 21st.
